Preparation

  1. Clear a workspace and set out your kit’s contents
  2. Pour each topping onto separate plates 
  3. Separate the paper cups
  4. Line up your chocolate shells, pipettes, and piping bag
  5. Open the brigadeiro containers (except the Brigadeiro Spread) and reserve a spoon for each
  6. Prepare a wipe or paper towel and a small bowl of water or butter for your hands
  7. Fill your piping bag with some brigadeiro
  8. (Optional) Our specialty holiday brigadeiros can be filled with a ‘secret center’ like Bailey’s, Bourbon, Cointreau, peanut butter, marshmallows, jelly, and more. Gather anything from your pantry you think you might want to try!

Let's Do It!

Classic Holiday Brigadeiros

Filling: Wet or lightly butter your hands. Scoop some brigadeiro from the container and gently roll and shape it (like playdough) into your holiday object of choice. Shape quickly or it will become too soft and harder to work with! Some ideas include cones to make a Christmas tree or Santa hat, balls to make a snowman, and donuts to make a holiday wreath. 

Decorating: Choose one or more toppings for a base color and roll your brigadeiro in the topping until evenly covered. Place the brigadeiro on a flat surface, finish any assembly steps, and bring your creation to life by adding individual sprinkles! And that’s it. Just taste, repeat using different flavors and textures, and enjoy! 

Bonus: For extra decoration and fun, fill one of your pipettes with liquor and stick it into one of your brigadeiros. To eat, just squirt the liquor into your mouth and then take a bite of the brigadeiro. Yum!

Specialty Brigadeiros

Specialty Holiday Chocolate Shell Brigadeiros

Extra Prep: Fill one quarter of your piping bag with brigadeiro by grabbing the middle of the piping bag with one hand and folding the top half of it over your hand to open it up. Gently spoon some brigadeiro into the piping bag, then twist the end until the bag meets the brigadeiro. Snip off the tip of the bag and you’re ready to go!

Filling: Take one of your chocolate shells and fill it half way with your ‘secret center’ (think marshmallows, peanut butter, liquor, or jam) using a spoon or one of your pipettes. Finally, wet or lightly butter your hands. Scoop a small amount of brigadeiro from the container and gently roll it around the outside of your chocolate shell until it has a thin, even layer of brigadeiro. 

Decorating: Choose one or more toppings as a base color and roll your brigadeiro shell in the topping until evenly covered. Decorate with individual sprinkles if you like and place it in a paper cup. That’s it. Try to mix up your flavor and decorations for your next two chocolate shells or even a hot chocolate bomb (see Pro Tips for more info!) 

Pro Tips

If your brigadeiro is too soft to mold and shape, refrigerate for 30 minutes. 

Start simple. It’s easier to blend flavors if you use 1-2 toppings at a time.

Use a blunt knife or toothpick to shape and add details like grooves to your brigadeiro.

For the best flavor experience, cleanse your palate between sampling brigadeiros. Sparkling water, a slice of apple, or water with lemon work well.

The chocolate shells make great hot chocolate ‘bombs’. Just fill the shell with marshmallows and chocolate brigadeiro and drop it in a cup of hot milk!

The butterscotch brigadeiro spread is great to use on toast, as a fruit dip, or as a coffee creamer. You can also warm it in the microwave for 10 seconds and turn it into a pourable sauce for ice cream!

You can use a pipette to fill your chocolate shell (like with liquor or jam) or stick a filled pipette directly into a brigadeiro as decoration. The pipettes can be cleaned and reused.

Set a timer for 15 minutes. Choose any chocolate, toppings, props, or at-home pantry ingredients to make the most creative holiday brigadeiros. Present your creations and vote. Award categories could include: Best Overall, A for Effort, Best Sales Pitch, Most Colorful, Best Use of Tools, Most Original Flavor Combination.

The Snowman Battle

Building a snowman is a quintessential holiday activity. TBring your snowman-making skills inside by making a brigadeiro snowman. Using different brigadeiro, you can roll, coat, and stack your ‘snowballs’, before adding some decorations like accessories and colors for some extra personality. If you’re up for it, why not build a family?

Choose 3 different flavor profiles and try to make 3 different brigadeiros with that in mind. What’s the most surprising flavor combination you can come up with? See how creative you can be!

Holiday Pairing

Try mixing and matching your brigadeiro with other classic holiday treats you may have around the house. Some of our favorites are mixing it in with hot chocolate or holiday blend coffee, using it as a cookie or fruit dip, drizzling it on ice cream or gingerbread, or pairing it with a full-bodied red or mulled wine.

Unopened jars of chocolate will be fresh for 3 weeks at room temperature and 3 months if refrigerated.
After opening, brigadeiro jars and rolled brigadeiro truffles will stay fresh for at least 2 weeks if refrigerated and up to 6 months in the freezer.
